Jeanette Blanche Anderson

Jeanette Anderson, 104, of Webster, SD passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster. Her memorial service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday August 22, 2020 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. Inurnment will be in the Webster Cemetery. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and those in attendance are asked to wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church 820 Main Street Webster, SD 57274. Jeanette Blanche Hanson was born to Otto and Anna (Sveum) Hanson on October 14, 1915 in Wheatland Township, SD. She was baptized at home. The family moved to the John Hanson farm. She attended grade school District 172. After moving to Webster in 1929, Jeanette was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She graduated from Webster High School in 1933 and was then employed at the County Agents Office. On November 22, 1936 she married Alton W. Anderson in Webster. He worked for General Mills. They were transferred to Aberdeen where son, Lonnie was born. After moving to Watertown and then Sioux Falls where daughter Janet was born, they returned to Webster in 1950. They owned Anderson Feed and Seed Company where Jeanette was bookkeeper until 1971 when both retired. They enjoyed time at their Enemy Swim Lake cabin and traveling to Texas, Florida, and California. From 1981-1991 winters were spent at their Sebring, Florida home. After her husband’s death in 1992, Jeanette lived in their Webster home until 1997 when she moved to Watertown. She returned to Webster in 2001 and lived independently for several years before spending a short time at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol, SD. In December 2013, she became a resident of Bethesda Home in Webster where she received and appreciated excellent care. Jeanette was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, holding offices and serving in many capacities including Ladies’ Aid President, Church Board, parish education member, LCW and Circles. She was also a member of Lawn and Garden Club and Senior Websterian Club. Golf, playing bridge and square dancing were some of her many interests. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crafts. Survivors include son, Lonnie (Judy) Anderson of Aberdeen, SD; daughter Janet (Larry) Zafft of Lilburn, GA; grandsons Mark (Janelle) Anderson of Bismarck, ND, Jason (Allison) Zafft of Buford, GA, Doug Zafft of Phoenix, AZ; great grandsons Cole, Jace, Grant, and Nate Anderson; great granddaughters, Prielle and Aleah Zafft; cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding her in death are husband, Alton, parents, siblings Orlando Hanson and Alvira Ripperger. Her family cherishes many special memories and is thankful Jeanette was blessed with a sharp mind and remarkable health until the time of her death.
