BRISTOL – Jerome Meyer 59 of rural Bristol passed away Friday January 25, 2019 at Sanford Hospital Webster. Celebration of Life will be 10:30 A.M. Friday February 1, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bristol. Spring burial will be in the Andover Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 4-6:30 P.M. with a 5 P.M. prayer service at Fiksdal Funeral Service. Jerome William Meyer was born September 2, 1959 to Edward and Evelyn (Walter) Meyer in Watertown, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake, SD. He attended Clear Lake School. Following that, he farmed with his dad for many years near Clear Lake, and also enjoyed building grain bins with his brother Ted. On July 10, 1982, he married the love of his life, Julaine Dohrer, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake, SD. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Kristine, Katy and Steven. They made their home in Clear Lake until 1990 when they moved to Andover, SD. Jerome worked for Hansmeier & Sons for many years. In 2015 they moved to Bristol where he enjoyed doing other various jobs, but his most favorite was being able to work in his son’s fencing business. Jerome’s lifelong passion was working with cattle and going to calf shows, but his greatest joy and happiness were his grandsons. He loved to roughhouse around with them. Snowmobile and 4-wheeler rides were a favorite. Attending the State Fair was a family highlight every year. In his younger years he also loved rodeoing on the weekends riding bulls and broncs. He showed dairy cows for many years in 4-H. In addition to his family, Jerome had many friends that were a very important part of his life. Jerome will be forever loved and greatly missed by his wife Julaine of 36 years; two daughters: Kristine Wellman and Lance Kolb, Aberdeen, SD; and Katy (Derek) Wickre, Bristol, SD; and one son, Steven Meyer and Cali Haberman, Marion, ND; five grandchildren: Ian Wellman, Zachary Kolb, Brayden Kolb, and Tucker and Turner Wickre; his mother, Evelyn Meyer, Altamont, SD; seven siblings: Ted (Barb) Meyer, Pierre, SD; Rita (Dan) Meseberg, Watertown, SD; Cindy Meyer and Lonny Stoltenberg, Madison, SD; Mary (Rex) Rogers, Miller, SD; Connie Currey, Madison, SD; Joe (Heather) Meyer, Slayton, MN; and Tracie (Brad) Price, Dell Rapids, SD; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dalton and Elaine Dohrer, Aberdeen, SD; two sisters-in-law: Kim (Randy) Galliano, Hillsboro, OR; and Darcy Reese and Steve Bain, Groton, SD; two brothers-in-law: Ron (Holli) Dohrer, Sioux Falls, SD; and Jared (Tina) Dohrer, Mankato, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Jerome was preceded in death by his father, Edward Meyer; a brother, Michael Meyer; two nieces, Julie Meyer and Erin Reese; and a nephew, Nicholas Meyer.
