John T. Anderson

John Anderson, 75, of Webster, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Fiksdal Funeral Service and will be live-streamed on fiksdalfuneral.com. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery near Lily, SD. Luncheon will follow burial at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Memorial Visitation will be Monday, August 16th from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home. John T. Anderson was born on October 17th, 1945 in Lily, SD. He lived in Lily, then Bristol, SD with his parents Kathleen and Marcus and siblings Jim, Ray, Mike, Patty, Cliff, and Jerry. Playing sports and spending time with family were important to him. John graduated from Bristol High School in 1963. He received his bachelor’s at Northern University in 1968 and then a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota. John married Linda on June 21st, 1969, and had five beautiful girls: Angela, Rhonda, Brenda, Tamara, and Tressa. He taught upper-level math at Webster High School most of his career and was loved by his students who knew him as Mr. A. Coaching many different high school sports was an enjoyable experience for John and he welcomed helping kids overcome obstacles, while spending free time refereeing multiple sporting events. During the summer months and after retirement he painted local houses with his girls and brother Jim. John loved his eleven grandchildren, Brittni, Kassandra, John, Mark, Alexandria, Abigail, Jacob, Brooklyn, Kristopher, Timothy, and Kaya, and looked forward to the summer vacations he got to spend with his family. He was an easy going, lovable man who enjoyed sharing a drink with his friends while watching golf or any sport. He spent his free time playing Sudoku, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, reading, rock collecting, watching jeopardy with his buddies in the afternoons, sightseeing and leisurely car rides/walks to look at scenery and the leaves changing color in the fall, while also helping out in the community of Webster and Lily. Sadly, John passed away on August 7th, 2021, and will be greatly missed and forever loved. Memorials may be directed to Golden Age - 501 Main St, Webster, SD 57274. Alternatively, donations made be made to Meals on Wheels at https://www.mowp.org/donate/.

On behalf of Cliff and the others, thank you Steve for your kind words about John and all the family. They never get together when you name doesn’t come up. Be assured that you have been a very special part of each of their lives. May God bless you and it’ll be an “amazing” game you’ll be playing with our loved ones and yours, on the other side. Brenda (Mrs Cliff) Anderson

An amazing family.I had the privilege of playing sports with John and Jim and got to coach Mike,Jerry and Gliff.Watched on-line. Jim was so spot on re-calling how John was the one to come through with the game on the line.To see Jerry speak after all these years was great. The loss of Ray has remained one of my saddest memories. I was blessed to be one of Kelly's pen pals She had great pride in all of her family.Marcus was also an amazing character. It was amazing to watch him move huge buildings.I see I have used the word amazing quite a bit. It is how I look at this family. Tom Herr was also one of my favorites. John was a classmate and a quiet but a very nice guy.I also like rocks.I look forward to seeing him on the other side. My sympathy goes to all of you. We lost three of our boys and each time I thought of Ray. Love from Steve Bury

I have fond memories of Mr. A in senior math class as well as running cross country for him on the streets and roads around Webster. May he rest in peace!

Sorry for your loss. The world is a better place because of Johns impact on his students, athletes, friends and family.

John was one of the best friends I ever had. We taught together from 1975-1986, and in the summer, we painted houses together. John always painted the high places. He did not mind going up on the ladder. We charged $5.00 an hour back then. After we got paid, it was time to go to the Polka Dot and have a beer. We also had a lot of great times at our teacher parties. June and I want to say how sorry we are. With Sympathy from both of us, Gary and June Markuson , Las Vegas
