Kenneth “Kenny” Herr 85, of Roslyn and formerly of Webster died Saturday July 21, 2012 at Strand Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at American Lutheran Church in Webster, Pastor Janet Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Tuesday 5-8 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Kenneth William Herr was born on Sunday, July 25, 1926 to Otto and Mabel (Solberg) Herr at Butler, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He grew up on a farm near Butler and also attended school there. In May 1946 he entered the U.S. Army Air Force where he was stationed in Japan during World War II. After his discharge he returned to the area. On November 5, 1950 he was united in marriage to Ramona Franson at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster. Kenny worked at Anderson Feed and Seed for twenty eight years. In 1978 he went into business for himself serving farmers in the area. Kenny entered Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn in September 2008. He was a member of American Lutheran Church in Webster. He was a member of Herbert McKennett Post 40 American Legion and V.F.W. Post 4690 of Webster. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bingo, lawn work and was a Minnesota Twins fan. Kenny passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 26 days. Survivors include three sons, Todd (Lillian) Herr of Webster, SD, Dana (Brenda) Herr of Brandon, SD and Troy (Amy) Herr of Andover, MN; one sister, Darletta (Bob) Willie of Ralston, NE; seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers and Ramona Herr to whom he was married to for over 50 years.
