Lana Nash, 69, of Waubay, passed away suddenly, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at her home in Waubay.

Private Memorial Services will be held 10:30am Thursday, December 4, 2025, and will be livestreamed via Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page.

Lana Kay Ryan was born on June 29, 1956, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Dexter and Lorraine (Anderson) Ryan. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waubay. Because her father served in the U.S. Air Force, Lana spent much of her childhood moving with her family, living in places as far away as England and Italy—Italy becoming her favorite. In 1972, the family moved to Waubay, where Lana graduated from Waubay High School in 1974.

Driven by a heart for helping others, Lana pursued her education at Lake Area in Watertown and earned her degree in respiratory therapy. She began her career at Day County Hospital in Webster and devoted nearly 50 years of exceptional service to Webster and surrounding area. Her dedication to her work—and the people she cared for—was unwavering.

On May 15, 1976, Lana married her best friend, Dan Nash. Together they built a loving home in Waubay and raised their two children, Amber and Allen. As the steadfast matriarch of her family, Lana’s faith was deep and her love immeasurable. She was the proudest grandmother and treasured every moment spent with her beloved “#1 little man,” Kenny. Retirement never held much appeal for Lana; caring for others was truly her passion.

Lana was an animal lover at heart, especially fond of her horses and her grand-fur-babies. She found joy in tending to her flower gardens and in collecting beautiful pieces of Italian Murano glass—keepsakes that echoed her cherished memories abroad.

Lana’s memory will live on in the hearts of her husband, Dan Nash of Waubay, SD; her daughter, Amber Nash of Waubay, SD; her son, Allen (Kirsten) Nash of Aberdeen, SD; and her treasured grandson, Kenny Nash of Aberdeen, SD. She is also survived by her siblings: Marvin Ryan of Watertown, SD; Robert (Lisa) Ryan of Sioux Falls, SD; Pam (Steve) Eidet of Waubay, SD; and Sandy Ryan of Gwinner, ND, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Kenneth Lickness.
