I will always remember the years I worked with Leona at the hospital, she was a great lady so kind, and she had a great sense of humor. Such a great lady she will be missed.

I’ll always remember and be grateful for my many pleasant conversations with Leona. I stopped in to see her as often as I could when I came back to SD for my annual summer vacations with my mother. Mom and Leona had been friends since they were young, and after my mom passed away and I returned to SD in retirement, I continued my visits to Leona. She always welcomed me and my dog, who accompanied me wherever I went. On one such visit, my little shih tzu squatted in the middle of her carpeted living room. I was utterly mortified, and then I thought, “Oh oh…” as Leona kept an immaculate house! But she just laughed, handed me paper towels, and we resumed our conversation. She never failed to give me--and my dog--a warm welcome into her home over the years and continued to do so when she made Bethesda her home.
