WEBSTER- Leonard Gebur, 91 of Webster died on Wednesday, November 05, 2008 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 10, 2008 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Burial will be at St. Otto’s Cemetery in Webster. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service (fiksdalfuneral.com) in Webster on Sunday 2-4 P.M. then continuing at the church until 8 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Rosary. Leonard Peter Gebur was born on Wednesday, September 5, 1917 to Frank and Susan (Buittner) Gebur on the family farm in Rusk Township, Day County, South Dakota southwest of Webster. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster. He attended country school and then St. Otto’s Parochial School in Webster. After he received his education he farmed with his father. He entered the U.S. Army and served overseas in Germany during World War II. After his discharge he returned home to the family farm. On October 22, 1947 he married Lucy Miotke at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lily, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home near Bradley for a year and then moved to a farm in York Township, Day County near Lily where he raised small grain and milked cows. He retired in 1986 but the couple continued to live on the farm until they moved to Webster in 2000. They both entered Bethesda Home in April 2005. Lucy passed away in December 2005. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. He sang in the church choir when they were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lily. He was a member of the Engebretson-Lien Post 156 American Legion in Lily and Webster V.F.W. Post 4690. Leonard passed away on Wednesday, November 05, 2008 in Webster, South Dakota at the age of 91 years and 2 months. Survivors include three sons, Steve (Peggy) Gebur of Groton, SD, Edward (Denise) Gebur of Eustis, FL and Glenn (Peggy) Gebur of Webster, SD; five daughters, DeAnna (Larry) Trautner of Roslyn, SD, Donna Gebur of Brookings, SD, Georgia (Galen) Sichmeller of Butler, SD, Jeani (Mike) Rice and Michelle Gebur both of Webster, SD; a brother-in-law, Don Loterbauer of Webster, SD; 25 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four sisters, six brothers and two granddaughters.
