Linda Lewandowski

Linda Lewandowski, 65, of rural Waubay, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her home.

Public funeral services will be held 10am Friday July 10, 2026, at Fiksdal Funeral Service. Private burial will be held.

Public visitation will be Thursday, July 9, 2026, 7-9pm at the funeral home, closing with prayer service at 8:30pm. 

Linda Marie Davies was born on December 28, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Evan and Maxine (Caldwell) Davies. She was baptized and confirmed in her early years and grew up in Peever, South Dakota, she attended school and graduated from Sisseton High School. From a young age, Linda found joy outdoors. She loved fishing and spending time in nature. Following high school, she worked as a cook at Enemy Swim Day School, where she became known for her caring nature and the friendships she formed along the way.

On April 5, 1984, Linda was united in marriage with the love of her life, Virgil Lewandowski in Sisseton. The couple settled in Rural Waubay on the Lewandowski Ranch. As a devoted ranch wife, Linda was much more than a helping hand. Whether she was raking hay, feeding bottle calves, or lending a hand wherever she was needed, she worked alongside Virgil with unwavering dedication. She took great pride in the life they built together and found fulfillment in caring for both the ranch and the people she loved.

Linda held her Native heritage close to her heart and embraced the traditions, values, and sense of community that shaped her life. She found peace and pride in attending powwows, where she enjoyed reconnecting with family and friends, celebrating her culture, and passing traditions on. Above all else, Linda treasured time spent with her family and friends. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her home was a welcoming place filled with warmth, laughter, and kindness, and she had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like family.

Linda also found delight in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan whose loyalty never wavered through the years. She loved watching hummingbirds and goldfinches visit her yard. One of Linda's most cherished moments came just a few weeks before her passing, when she and her son, Mike, were baptized together on the family ranch. Surrounded by the place she loved most and those dearest to her, the occasion was a profound expression of her faith and a source of great peace and comfort. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and quiet resilience left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Linda is survived by her Husband Virgil Lewandowski of Rural Waubay, her three sons Richard Lewandowski of Watertown, Mike Davies (Kelli) of Waubay, and JR Lewandowski (Kelcie) of Rural Waubay, her brother Gary Davies of Charlottesville NC, one sister Grace Brian of Rossville KS and her three adapted sisters Evie, Liz, and Louann, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents Evan and Maxine Davies, brothers Evan, Dennis, and Darell Davies, niece Brandi Redwing, sister Tammy Redwing, mother-in-law, Lucille Lewandowski, father-in-law Leon Lewandowski, and numerous aunts and uncles.
