Lois M. Buhler

January 31, 1928 — July 3, 2023

Lois Buhler, 95, of Bristol and formerly of Milbank, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023, at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Butler Lutheran Church in Butler. Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery near Butler.

Lois Marie Hanson was born on January 31, 1928, to Albin and Alma (Moen) Hanson on the farm near Lily, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Lily Lutheran Church. Lois graduated from Webster High School in 1945. She furthered her education at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and later attended and graduated from Northern States Teachers College in Aberdeen, South Dakota in August 1952. After her education she taught at Lily and Hayti, South Dakota.

She was united in marriage to Clifford Buhler on June 17, 1951, at Lily Lutheran Church, in Lily. The couple made their home in rural Butler, South Dakota from 1951 to 1974. To this union four children were born: Dennis, Ron, Arden, and Jan. They moved to Milbank, South Dakota in 1974 and resided there until January 2023.

Lois was a member at Butler Lutheran Church in Butler and was also a member of the American Lutheran Church in Milbank. She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Lois is survived by three sons, Dennis (Kathy) Buhler of Holmquist, SD, Ron Buhler of Milbank, SD, Arden Buhler of Watertown, SD; one daughter Jan (Bill) Marlette of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Lori (Jesse) Monnens of Hazel, SD, Tim (Mallory) Marlette of Seattle, WA, Stacy Marlette of Omaha, NE, Dan Marlette of Fargo, ND, three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Colton, Mikayla Monnens;  one sister, Betty Pomeroy of Edina, MN; one sister-in-law Lorraine Anderson of Webster, SD;  and 23 nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Alma Hanson, her husband, Clifford; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Chuck Vehe; brothers and sisters-in-law Raymond and Isabelle (Erdahl) Hanson and Lyle and Evelyn (Folven) Hanson; brother-/sister-in-law Merle and Fern (Buhler) Loken; brother-/sister-in-law Lyle and Viola (Engberg Schneider) Buhler, and brothers-in-law Clifford Anderson and Warren Pomeroy; three nephews, and two great-nephews.
