Lola Blank Mydland, 95, of West Fargo and formerly of Aberdeen and Roslyn, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at a care center in West Fargo.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Pastor Neil Hannahs will officiate. Memorial visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to NE-SO-DAK Bible Camp (Lutheran Outdoors of South Dakota), Waubay, SD or a charity of your choice.

Lola D. Blank Mydland, 95, of Aberdeen and Roslyn, SD died Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Sheyenne Crossings Assisted Living in West Fargo, ND where she has resided for the past 3 years. She was born October 24, 1927 to Oscar and Louisa (Schmidt) Peterson in Aberdeen, SD. In her youth she resided with her parents on a farm south of Groton, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Groton, and was a member of Roslyn LutheranChurch for 30 years, Bethlehem LutheranChurch for a number of years as well as Northern Plains Baptist Church in Aberdeen at the time of her death. Lola graduated from Groton High School in 1945 and attended Minneapolis Business College in 1946.

In 1947 she was united in marriage to Clarence Blank of Roslyn. They had three children, Jean, George and Wayne. Clarence died in 1974.While living in Roslyn she was employed as bookkeeper and business manager for the Roslyn school for 21 years. After Clarence’s death she moved to Aberdeen where she was employed by the Aberdeen School District for 13 years, retiring in 1990. In 1988 she was united in marriage to Luther Mydland and they continued to reside in Aberdeen. Luther died in 2009.

Lola was active in her spiritual life enjoying Peacemakers quilting group, her Sunday morning waffle ministry at her Aberdeen home, American Legion Auxilliary and various other community groups. She particularly enjoyed time spent at Pickerel Lake.

Lola is survived by her sons, George (Connie), Casselton, ND and Wayne (Katie), Anchorage, AK, step-daughters Marvel Winter, Bemidji, MN, June Rabenberg, Britton, SD, Gayle Nash, El Paso, TX, her grandchildren Carl Blank (fiancee’ Ashley Sornsin), West Fargo, ND,Laurie (Jake) Palen, Edina, MN, Nicole Hedger, Anchorage, AK, Brandon Baker, Anchorage, AK, Lee Olson, Texas, Lydia (Scott) George, Poquoson, VA, Eric Olson, Altoona, PA, Carl(Katie) Olson, Newport News, VA, Rachel Olson, Merchantville, NJ, nine great grandchildren, and nieces and a nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbandsClarence Blank and Luther Mydland, her daughter Jean Olson, and her brothers Glennand Ralph Peterson.
