Lorraine Erickson, 95, of Webster, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Bethesda Home in Webster.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Inurnment will be at St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery near Webster.

Memorial visitation will be Monday, November 27, 2023 5-7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers Lorraine's wishes were to have Masses offered in her memory or donations to Bethesda Nursing Home.

Lorraine Clara Wika was born on November 24, 1927, at Webster, South Dakota to Joseph and Elizabeth (Boik) Wika. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville. She attended country school near the family farm for six years and then attended parochial school at St. Joseph’s in Grenville through the eighth grade. She went on to Webster High School, graduating in 1945. After high school, she moved to Rapid City and worked as an office secretary at the National Guard Headquarters.

On October 12, 1948, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Erickson at St. Ottos Catholic Church in Webster. The couple made their home on a farm near Bristol, raising seven children. In 1970, she started working at Sun Dial Manor. While working there she took correspondence courses earning her dietary supervisor certificate through the University of Florida. After retiring she moved to Aberdeen in 1992 to babysit her grandchildren. In 1994 she moved to Webster, living at Downtown Manor. She worked at Lake Area Hospital as cook until retiring again in 2003.

While living in Bristol, Lorraine was a member at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bristol, where she taught CCD and was active in the altar society. After moving to Webster, she was a member Christ the King Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Webster VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, crafts, board games, walking, using her kindle, but most of all spending time with her family.

 At the end of August 2023, Lorraine moved to Bethesda Home in Webster and passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, one day shy of her 96th birthday.

She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her four daughters, Karen (Wes) Nolte of Webster, SD, Shirley Jones of Aberdeen, SD, Joyce Lentz of Porter, TX, and Judy Zetah of Rapid City, SD, three daughters-in-law, Helen Erickson of North Platte, NE, Liann Erickson of Webster, SD, and Kathy Erickson of FL, one sister-in-law Norma Wika of Webster, SD, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Larry, Eugene, and Rick, two grandsons, Jason Nolte and Jami Erickson, one son-in-law Cy Lentz, one granddaughter-in-law Amy Erickson, four sisters, Esther (Ed) Fromelt, Della (Ralph) Mitchell, Gladys (Jim) DeBilzan, and Mary (Ed) Kuecker, and two brothers, Tony Wika, and Willie (Corrine) Wika.

 

The family of Lorraine would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Bethesda Nursing Home and the hospice team for their loving and compassionate care given to our Mom.
