WAUBAY- Lorraine Feldmeyer, 86 of Sioux Falls and formally of Waubay died on Tuesday, July 03, 2007 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay; Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Waubay. Visitation will be on Friday 4-8 P.M. at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster and prior to services at church on Saturday. Lorraine Marie Soleglad was born on Monday, August 2, 1920 to Wilhelm and Borghild (Wilmann) Soleglad at Elk Point, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She grew up at Elk Point and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1938. On September 14, 1951 she married Merton “Bud” Feldmeyer at Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1952, after their marriage, the couple made their home at Enemy Swim Lake north of Waubay, South Dakota where they operated Bud’s Resort. Mr. Feldmeyer passed away in April 1970. She continued to operate the resort until 1975 when she sold the resort to her son, Dennis. She continued to work for him in the resort until 1994. In 2003 she entered Knopf Living Center in Sioux Falls and in 2006 she entered the Good Samaritan Center, also in Sioux Falls, where she resided until the present time. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay. She enjoyed raising flowers, feeding birds, her grandchildren and cooking for her family. Lorraine passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 1 day. Survivors include one son, Dennis (Cindy) Feldmeyer of Waubay, SD; one daughter, Sharon (David) Oliver of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Sylvia McInerney and Shirley (Carl) Christensen both of Elk Point, SD; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
