Lynnelle Jo Blank, of Huron, and formerly of Roslyn, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at Avera Queen of Peace in Mitchell.
Memorial Services are pending at this time.
Lynnelle Jo Blank was born on March 19, 1952, and grew up to become a woman of quit strength, fierce honesty, and deep devotion – to her faith, her craft, and the people she loved. She attended school in Roslyn SD graduating in May of 1970. That fall she enrolled in Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen SD earning her diploma in the spring of 1971. She embarked on a lifelong career as a hairstylist. For more than five decades, she worked with her hands and her heart, making people feel seen and cared for -one chair at a time.
Lynnelle was the sister of Jacey (Scott Hoecker), Gwen Kampa, and Tim (Martha Espinosa – Blank). Through them her family grew and flourished. Jacey and Scott’s daughter, Josie (Ben Watczak) gave the family young Henry. Gwen’s children, Celeste and Brandon, add their own light to the family: Christopher, Matthew, Remmington, and Kash. Time and Martha had daughters: Rachel and Stephanie (Cam Herr), who created another source of joy in their son, Micah.
Her church was the second home of her heart. An active and devoted member of her congregation, Lynnelle poured herself into its life and rhythms. She joined the quilting group, and in the making of Lefsa, helped baked cookies, and showed up faithfully to prepare and serve food at funerals and gatherings - because that was who she was. She showed up. She rolled her up her sleeves, and she fed people in every sense of the world. Her church family knew her love in the most tangible ways.
Those who knew Lynnelle knew what they were getting: Honesty without embellishment. She would teel you what she thought – plainly, directly, and without apology. She could be prickly at times, and she would have been the first to admit it. But, beneath that sharpness, was something that entirely trustworthy and that kind of steadiness is rare. It is a gift. She loved for all of it – the warmth and the edge alike.
Above all, Lynnelle was faithful. Faithful to her faith, family, friends, and church community.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Ed and Louise Blank, a brother-in-law Lynn Steinmetz, and a nephew Brandon Kampa. She leaves behind a family and community who are better for having had her in their lives. Lynelle Jo Blank will be deeply, genuinely missed.
Condolences may be mailed to her sister: Gwen Kampa, 5101 S Marion Rd. Apt. 108, Sioux Falls, SD 57106
