Marcella "Sally" Kotzea

Marcella Kotzea, 84, of Webster, SD and formerly of Waubay, SD passed away on June 8, 2020 at a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass Of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday June 15, 2020 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Burial will be at St. Ottos Cemetery. Walk through visitation will be Sunday4-6 P.M. with a private family rosary at 6:00 P.M. at Fiksdal Funeral Service. Social Distancing guidelines will be followed. Marcella Mary Ann Czmowski was born on Tuesday, August 13, 1935, to Nick and Ida (Gebur) Czmowski in Clark County, South Dakota near Lily. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lily. She attended St. Otto’s Catholic School in Webster and Lily Public Schools. On January 2, 1952, she married Donald Kotzea at Lily, South Dakota. After their marriage, the couple made their home on the Kotzea homestead near Waubay and then their own farm in 1956. She was a homemaker, raising her children, farmer raising sheep, cook at Pereboom’s Café and Waubay Public Schools. She loved to play cards, hunting, gardening (especially peonies) and going to the casino. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish and Altar Society. Grateful for sharing her life include her husband, Donald Kotzea (Webster), three children; Alan (Ruth) Kotzea (Webster), Dale Kotzea (Aberdeen), Jon Kotzea (Sioux Falls), three grandchildren; Michael Kotzea (Sioux Falls), Nick (Kate) Kotzea (Sioux Falls), Melissa (Jeremy) Herrboldt (Watertown), 7 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Deb Kotzea (Sioux Falls), sister Rita Hamman, and many nieces and nephews. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Ida Czmowski; brothers Sylvester Czmowski and Albert Czmowski; sisters Leona Gronke, and Genevieve Kirchmeier; daughter Linda Kotzea; and grandson Ryan Kotzea.
