SUMMIT – Margaret Breske, 85 of Summit passed away Monday April 8, 2019 at her home in Summit.
Her funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday April 15, 2019 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. Burial will be in the Lakewood Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 P.M. with a 1:45 P.M VFW presentation at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Fiksdalfuneral.com.
Margaret Bertha Schmig was born on January 30, 1934 to William and Myrtle (Brekke) Schmig at Waubay, South Dakota. She attended school through 8th grade in Waubay.
On January 19, 1953 she was united in marriage to Harry Breske at Milbank, South Dakota. The couple made their home on a farm near Waubay until 1956 when they purchased a farm northwest of Summit. The couple farmed and Margaret worked seasonally at Schiltz Foods in Sisseton until 1991. The couple moved into Summit in 1992. Harry passed away on October 19, 2000. After his death Margaret continued living in Summit. Margaret sold poppies every year for the VFW. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, watching the Twins, attending music jamborees, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Margaret passed away on Monday April 8, 2019 at her residence in Summit, South Dakota at the age of 85 years 3 months and 8 days.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Breske of Summit, SD and Tony (Gwen) Breske of Waverly, SD; four daughters, May (Galen) Gibson of Webster, SD, Lisa (Larry) Erickson of Watertown, SD, Linda (Tom) Fitting of Watertown, SD, and Debra Breske of Watertown, SD; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Edward and Gene Breske; one daughter, Jean Carol Breske; 2 brothers, Don and Albert Schmig; one sister, Mary Ann Eidet; one grandson, David Breske; and one great-granddaughter, Brandy Cotton.
