Margaret was born on October 9, 1934, at the family home to Paul and Shirley (Guderian) Zubke. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Waubay. She attended Waubay Public School for grades 1-6, staying at a dorm in Waubay. She then attended Wheatland Country School for grades 7-8 and then returned to Waubay High School for her freshman year, where she met the love of her life, Ivan Jorgenson. After graduation, she attended Northern College Summer School and received her teaching certificate. She taught grades 1-8 at Wheatland Country School from September 1952-May 1953.

On September 27, 1953, at Zion Lutheran church, she was united in marriage at a candlelight service to Ivan Jorgenson. The couple was married for nearly 72 years. They were blessed with eight children, four boys, followed by four girls. In 1954, Ivan was drafted into the US Army. After basic training, Ivan, Margaret, and Kim (their first-born son) moved to Falls Church, Virginia, living there from June 1955 to December 1956. They returned to the Jorgenson homestead taking over the dairy and grain farm. Margaret helped milk cows, feed calves, and raised many geese and ducks, which she butchered and sold to many in the community. They continued to live there until entering Bethesda Home together on May 14, 2025.

Family was very important to Margaret. Being an only child, she was grateful for the love and joy that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought to her home. She enjoyed any opportunity to be with her grandkids from holding the tiny babies to playing games with the older ones. One of her greatest joys was gathering her family at Christmas. She would start her shopping in January for the following year.

Margaret dedicated many years to her local 4-H chapter working closely with her four daughters and other women in the community. She taught them skills of gardening, canning, baking, sewing, showing livestock, etc. She was a very patient woman.

Throughout her life, Margaret found great strength, comfort, and joy in her faith. She served as the Sunday School Superintendent, Ladies Aid Secretary, and took part in bible studies.

In her free time, Margaret enjoyed embroidering and crocheting, making many doilies, dish towels, and potholders. In the summertime, she took great pride in her lawn and flower beds. In her later years, she loved to take various trips with Ivan.

Margaret showed her love in many ways. Always there to listen, give support, give guidance, and she taught her children the reward of hard work. She was a good role model in teaching honesty and respect for others.

Margaret passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Webster, South Dakota with her loving family at her side at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 5 days.

She is survived by her husband Ivan, seven children, Kim (Gloria) of Waubay, Kevin (Julie) of Waubay, Kurtus (Donna) of Waubay, Susan (Ferdy) Zirbel of Ortley, Sherrie (Mike) Larson of Summit, Nancy (Duane) Zimmerman of Yankton, Paula (Brad) Cap of Yankton, daughter-in-law Kathy Jorgenson of Waubay, cousin Arlene Jordan (the sister she never had) of Watertown, 54 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, with 5 on the way, 6 great-great grandchildren with 2 on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
