Margaret Loe

WEBSTER- The funeral for Margaret R. Loe, formerly of Webster, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. Reverends Daniel and Kristin Ostercamp will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery with Fiksdal Funeral Service in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and at St. John’s just prior to the funeral. Margaret, formerly of Webster died peacefully in her sleep on March 11, 2010 at Evergreen Manor, Oshkosh, WI. Margaret was born December 26, 1913 to Morris and Jennie (Williamson) Roberts at Jasper, MN. After high school, Margaret attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls and worked as an accountant for Policyholder's National Life Insurance Company there. She married Loren A. Loe on November 30, 1939, at Webster. They lived in Sioux Falls until 1948 when they moved to Webster and formed a partnership in an appliance and propane business with Margaret’s sister and brother-in-law known as Gellerman and Loe. They operated the business until Loren’s retirement in 1985. Margaret was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Progressive Reading Circle, served on numerous committees and performed countless hours of volunteer service. She was also active for many years with the Webster Golf Club, Webster Building, Loan and Savings Association, PEO, Webster Public Library Board, Gray Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, and served as a volunteer with several other local organizations. Margaret died on March 11, 2010 at the age of 96 years, 2 months and 15 days. She is survived by one daughter, Ellen Loe of Long Beach, CA; one son, John (Tanya) Loe of Oshkosh, WI; and two grandchildren, Jocelyn (David) Pinkert of Appleton, WI and Stuart (Carrie) Loe of West Allis, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Ellen and brother Rowland. Margaret was articulate, thoughtful, creative and charming, a lover of poetry and good books. Her kind heart and gentle humor were a joy to all.
