Marguerite Waligoske, 89 of Brookings and formerly of Webster died on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Brookview Nursing Home in Brookings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 27, 2015 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Inurnment will be at St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will be present and you may sign the guest book on Sunday 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home.
Marguerite Cooper Waligoske was born September 29,1925 in Webster, SD to James and Lena (Renkes) Cooper. She attended St. Otto's Catholic school for eight years and graduated from Webster High School in 1943. She worked in a defense plant in Los Angeles, CA, from 1944 to 1946. She returned to Webster and worked in the office of Wist Produce Company until her marriage. She later worked at Wist Lockers, Wagner's Variety Store, and in the kitchen at the Webster schools.
She married Ben Waligoske on January 17, 1948 at Saint Otto's church in Webster. The couple lived in Clark, SD until 1950 when they returned to Webster, where her husband was in business. Ben passed away in 1987. She moved to Brookings, SD in 2010.
She was a member of Christ the King Church and Altar Society and the American Legion auxiliary. She loved her children and grandchildren, music, reading and sports. Her wit and sense of humor were enjoyed by all.
Survivors include three sons, Ben Jr., of Rapid City; Pat (Cindy),and Dave (Jean), of Brookings; two daughters, JoAnn (Bob) Mason, of Mason City, IA, and Sue Hoven of Webster; nine grandchildren, Crystal Koistinen, Jason (Louisa) Waligoske, Robby (Melissa) Waligoske, Amy (Josh) Jones, Josh (Meredith) Mason, Jen (Derek) Swoboda, Ben, Kate, and Adam Waligoske; and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers, and one sister.
