ROSLYN- Marie “Dolly” Gutormson, 86 of Roslyn died on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Sanford Hospital in Webster. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Marie “Dolly” Adeline Lardy was born on Saturday, August 27, 1921 to Mike and Josephine (Smedstad) Lardy on the family farm in Raritan Township, Day County South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster, South Dakota. She attended Roslyn High School. In August of 1939, she married Lawrence Gutormson at Bigstone, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple made there home west of Roslyn where they farmed. In 1952 they moved to Huron, South Dakota where Dolly owned and operated The Silver Diner. Mr. Gutormson passed away in 1980. Dolly remained in Huron until 2006 when she moved to Strand Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. She enjoyed traveling, reading and most of all spending time visiting with her family. Dolly passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 86 years 4 months, and 14 days Survivors include: two sons; Lonnie Gutormson of Huron, South Dakota and Mike (Jan) Gutormson of Whitethall, Montana; three daughters; Sharon Merrill of Limon, Colorado, Lorene (Delbert) Goodwin of Fruitdale, South Dakota, and Rita (Jim) Loftstrom of Apple Valley, Minnesota; three sisters; Maxine Gutormson of Roslyn, South Dakota, Gloria Haaseth of Roslyn, and Joyce (Gary) Nelson of Mille Lacs, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Sherla, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson.
