Marion Grosek, 89 of Webster died on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Burial will be at St. Otto’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday 2-4 P.M. then at the church 5-7 P.M. ending with a 7 P.M. Rosary.
Marion Elizabeth Johnson was born on Friday, October 8, 1926 to Henry “Hemmy” and Mary (Lardy) Johnson at Webster, South Dakota. The family lived southwest of Roslyn where she grew up. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster. She attended St. Otto’s Parochial school in Webster and graduated from Roslyn High School.
She was united in marriage to Francis Grosek on April 16, 1945 at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster. After their marriage the couple farmed south of Webster until 1954 when they moved to Webster. In 1958 the couple started Grosek Tire where she was the bookkeeper. She retired in 1989. In 2008 she entered Bethesda Home in Webster.
She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Marion loved being with and taking care of her children and grandchildren and cooking family meals. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and follower of Webster baseball watching her son and grandsons coach and play. Marion passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 23 days.
Survivors include her husband, Fritz of Webster; one son, Mike Grosek of Webster, SD; two daughters, Mary Jean (Chuck) Hesla of Webster, SD and Pat (Valdis) Birznieks of Denver, CO; daughter-in-law, Stacie Grosek of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Duane, one great grandson, Gunnar Birznieks, and two sisters, Marlene and Marlys.
