Mary Jane Fiksdal, 79 of Bristol died on Sunday, December 04, 2011 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 12, 2011 at Sun Dial Manor Chapel in Bristol. Rev. Matt Pribyl will officiate Burial will be at a later date at St. Pauli Lutheran Cemetery near Wallace. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday. Family prefers memorials to St. Pauli Lutheran Cemetery. Mary Jane Gusenius was born on April 8, 1932 to John and Mary (Daggett) Gusenius on the family farm in Valley Township, Day County, South Dakota west of Butler. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. She attended Grandview country school and graduated from Bristol High School in 1950. On July 13, 1950 she was united in marriage to Franklin Fiksdal at Bristol, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home on the Fiksdal family farm. In 1972 they sold the farm and moved to Watertown where she attended Lake Area Technical Institute. The couple purchased the water delivery business from Culligan and she did the bookkeeping for it. In 1976 they moved to Cody, Wyoming where she worked as a waitress. In 1981 they purchased Iverson Sanitation and she did the bookkeeping and office work for the business. In 1998 the couple sold the business and in 2003 they moved to Powell, Wyoming and in September 2004 they moved to Webster where Franklin was in Bethesda Home. He passed away in January 2006. She has resided at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol since March 2009. She was an active member of St. Pauli Lutheran Church when they lived on the farm and Cody Assembly of God Church in Cody, Wyoming where she was baptized as an adult. She taught Sunday School, she loved gardening, farm life and reading. The couple loved children and some of them stayed at their home for various periods of time. Marie Gusenius was with them from grade school through the first year of college. Survivors include a special niece, Marie Gusenius of Renton, WA and two brothers, James (Mary Ann) Gusenius of Webster, SD and Delmar (Karen) Gusenius of Cordes Lakes, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Della Mae Iverson and one brother, David Gusenius.
