WAUBAY- Mary Ann Reese, 69 of Waubay died on Thursday, April 01, 2010 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 5, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay. Burial will be at Waubay Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday 6-8 P.M. at the Church with a 7 P.M. Rosary. Mary Ann Reese was born on Wednesday, September 11, 1940 to Florian and Margaret (Lessnick) Reese at the Peabody Memorial Hospital in Webster. The family lived on the east side of Minnewasta Lake in Waubay, Township, Day County, South Dakota. She was baptized at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay. She attended country school through the eighth grade. After she received her education she lived with her parents on the family farm and did childcare for relatives and neighbors. In 1976 she, along with her mother, moved to Waubay where she continued childcare and also housekeeping for neighbors and other local families. After the death of her mother in 1995 she continued to live in the family home. In 2008 her health failed and she moved to Bethesda Home in Webster. She was active in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church ladies groups. She loved cats, dolls, baking and listening to music. She also was an avid walker. She always remembered family birthdays and there was always “something” under the Christmas tree for the little children in her extended family.She was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliaries. Mary Ann passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 21 days. Survivors include a sister, Genevieve Gaikowski of Webster, SD; a brother, Roger (Donna) Reese of Watertown, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Herman.
