MaryLou Metz, 78, of Webster, SD passed away on Thursday April 21st, 2022 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday April 26th, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. Luncheon will follow at the church. We will depart from the church at 12:45 P.M. for burial at the Roslyn Cemetery near Roslyn.
Visitation will be Monday April 25th from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials designated to St. John’s Building and Creating for the Future Fund PO Box 36 Webster, SD 57274.
MaryLou Metz was born on July 6, 1943, at the Steele ND hospital to John and Pauline Dockter. She was baptized and confirmed at Tuttle Lutheran Church. MaryLou attended school in Tuttle.
On May 11, 1963, she was united in marriage to Adrian (Adie) Metz at Roslyn Lutheran Church. The family made their home in Webster. MaryLou worked as a daycare provider for over 32 years. She helped raise so many kids over those years. Her next job was at Breske’s Café and Perebooms Café doing the salad bars and baking (her famous chocolate chip cookies and many others). She was well known for her potato salad and deviled eggs. She worked at Perebooms until her retirement. MaryLou loved to be outdoors, baking for her family and spending as much time as she could with her 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. MaryLou was an avid bowler (over 52 years in the league) and loved her bowling friends dearly.
MaryLou and Adie had four children: Charlene, Corinne, Ronette, and Stacey. Charlene & Rolfe Ludtke and her children, Marcus Schmieg & Ashley (children Sheldon and Khloe), Jessica Schmieg (children Shaela and Tristin), and Cody Engler, Corinne Rumpca and her children Ryan Rumpca and Christi & Tanner Christensen (children Brynlee and Brody), Ronette & Ryan Costain and their children Aiden and Bronson, and Stacey & Jason Knebel and their children Madisyn, Gannon, Taelyn, and Grayson.
MaryLou is survived by her siblings Diana (Kevin) Kwasniewski, Gladys Zerr, Darlene (Ralph) Skare, John (Nancy) Dockter, Stanley (Donna) Dockter, Dan (Laurie) Dockter, Lyle Dockter, Lynn (Brenda) Dockter. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Pauline Dockter, her loving husband Adie, siblings, Kenneth (Marilyn) Dockter, Gloria (George) Eble, Elanie (Walter) Landenberger, James Dockter, Leona (Art) Papke, Mable (Harland) Thon, several nieces and nephews, Stacey, Kirk, La wayne, Marsha,George, Rhonda and God-son Todd Storley
