WEBSTER- Maureen “Bunny” Denson, 73 of Webster died on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at her home. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. John Hisel of the United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Webster Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Fiksdal Funeral Service (fiksdalfuneral.com) is in charge of the arrangements. Maureen “Bunny” Johnson was born on August 16, 1935 at Vegreville, Alberta Canada to Alfred and Ione (Delap) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She graduated from Webster High School in 1953. After graduation she attended Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen, South Dakota and received her teaching certificate. She married Jerry Schmelke in 1969, and the couple moved to the Twin Cities. In Minneapolis she sold jewelry for 30 years for J.B. Hudson Jewelers, and became their number one sales person. She retired in 1998 and moved back to Webster. She loved the people of Webster and the small town life. She was a proud American and always supported our troops. She loved flowers, dancing, the warm weather and sunbathing. She loved her family and loved visiting with people, a very “people person”. In fact she added her front deck just for that purpose! She also loved to travel. She was a very giving, thoughtful, caring, and loving soul. She was able to lift peoples’spirits when they were down. She especially loved her best buddy “Pickle” the pug! Maureen “Bunny” Denson passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at her home in Webster, South Dakota at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 22 days. Survivors include three sons, Kim (Gloria) Schmelke of Keewatin, Minnesota, Richard “Thumper” (Stephanie) Chiero of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Pat (Bethanne) Chiero of Savage, Minnesota, one daughter, Kathleen (Ari) Schmelke of Scottsdale, Arizona, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and one son Gino.
