Norma Anderson, 88 of Roslyn and formerly of Webster died on Thursday, May 05, 2011 at Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Webster, Rev. Jan FitzGibbon will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Monday 5-7 PM and prior to services on Tuesday. Norma Cleone Rayman was born on Sunday, March 11, 1923 to Walter and Ruby (Howard) Rayman at Geddes, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm near Geddes. She attended and graduated from Meckling High School in 1940 and then graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1944. She taught school in Beresford. On July 29, 1946 she was united in marriage to Allan Anderson at Elk Point, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Beresford. In 1947 they moved to Omaha where Allan was attending Creighton School of Dentistry. While in Omaha she taught school. In 1951 they moved to Brookings. They moved to Webster in 1954 where she was a homemaker was the physical education and health teacher in the Webster School System from 1963 until her retirement in 1986. Mr. Anderson passed away in December 2006. She entered Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in December 2006. Norma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Webster where she was a member of the U.M.W. and Circle where she served as Chairman. She also was involved in serving the Kiwanis Club. She also belonged to Order of Eastern Star and S.D.E.A., was a Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Womens Golf Club. She loved to golf, play bridge and sew. She also was involved in the Webster Summer Recreation program. The couple loved to travel and had visited all the states. Norma passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 24 days. Survivors include her two daughters, Gail (Gary) Houghton of Claire City, SD and Jill (Jon) Flemmer of Webster, SD; three grandchildren, Scott Melissa Houghton Seth Flemmer; and two great grandchildren, William Sophie Houghton. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
