WAUBAY- Norma Zubke, 81 of Waubay died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay, Rev. Jeffrey Kalb will officiate. Spring Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery, Waubay. Norma Ella Zubke was born on Friday, November 23, 1928 to Otto and Emma (Bartelt) Zubke on the family farm in Waubay Township, Day County, South Dakota north of Waubay. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay. She attended country school in the Bartelt School near the family farm and in 1946 graduated from Waubay High School. After graduation she continued to live on the family farm to care for her parents. She also worked at Town’s Bakery. After the death of her parents she continued to live on the farm until 1988 when she moved into Waubay. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aide where she held many offices over the years. She also taught Sunday School and was a member of the church choir. She played cards several times a week, bingo and did cross words. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and visiting with family and friends. Norma passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 22 days. Survivors include a niece, Carol (Jim) Weyh of Watertown, SD; two nephews, Gary Zubke and Terry (Amy) Zubke both of Waubay, SD; six great nephews, one great niece and three great great nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold, a sister-in-law, Beverly, one niece and one nephew.
