Richard Bigelow, 69 of Webster died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. His wishes were to be cremated and that no services be held. Cards of sympathy may be mailed to his sister, Coleen Kristofitz, 111 Roma Drive, Ducanville, TX 75116. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Fiksdalfuneral.com. Richard Duane Bigelow was born on May 3, 1944 to Lester and Edythe (Stevens) Bigelow at Bristol, South Dakota. The family moved to Webster where he attended school and graduated from Webster High School in 1962. The family moved to Rapid City where he worked at the airport until 1964 when he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He did two tours of duty as a Sonar Technician on two ships, the USS Lofberg and the US Wiltsee. He was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star. On his return from Vietnam he retired in Sacramento, California where he ran a consignment store for a short time. Then he worked at McClelland Air Force Base on electronics until his retirement in 2000. He moved back to Webster into his former home. Survivors include his sister, Coleen Kristofitz and family of Ducanville, TX; and a cousin, Joanne Johnson of Webster, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis.
