Bob Anderson, 71 of Tea and formerly of Webster died on Friday, February 25, 2011 at his home in Tea. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at American Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev Jan FitzGibbon officiating. Burial will be at Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Tuesday 5-8 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday. Fiksdalfuneral.com. Robert James Anderson was born on Wednesday, July 12, 1939 to Erland and Dorothy (Johannason) Anderson on a farm near Erwin, South Dakota. He attended all twelve grades of school at Erwin, graduating in 1957. He was an All Star basketball player throughout his high school years. He started working for Johnson Penn Well Drilling his senior year of high school. Robert and Connie Coster met in 1957 and were married on November 6, 1959 at Pipestone, Minnesota. After their marriage they made their home in Erwin while Bob kept up his well drilling career. In 1964 they moved to La Puente, California where he worked for Sears Fencing until 1966, when due to arthritic problems, they moved back to Erwin where he and his father operated a gas station together along with driving school bus. He also helped out Johnson Penn Well Drilling and when Johnson sold out to Penn and moved to Webster. He asked Bob to come with him and so they moved to Webster in 1967. Bob worked with Johnson until 1969 when he bought the business and named it Anderson Well Drilling. He retired in 1998. In 2007 the couple moved to Tea. He was a member of American Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, taught Sunday School and taught confirmation. He was a member of the Webster Development Corporation and belonged to Webster Jaycees. Bob helped bring Dakotah to Webster. His passions were his yard, gardening, fishing, golfing, traveling and he had his favorite television shows. Bob passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 at his home in Tea, South Dakota at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 13 days. Survivors include his wife, Connie of Tea; three daughters, Wendy Anderson of Tea, SD, Rhonda (Mike) Smeins of Milbank, SD and Susan (Dana) Miller of Webster, SD; his mother, Dorothy Anderson of Brookings, SD; five grandchildren, Jamie and Amber Smeins, Tawney, Jesse and Sawyer Miller; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Raymond and Roland (Lyle).
