WEBSTER - Robert "Bob" E. Loterbauer, 89, of Webster, SD, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol, South Dakota.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster and will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Time of fellowship will follow services in the basement. Inurnment will take place at the Bristol Cemetery in Bristol.
Memorial Visitation will be 5:00 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Fiksdal Funeral Service.
Robert Elton Loterbauer was born on December 7, 1933, to Frank and Emma (Stern) Loterbauer near Candell, South Dakota. He attended country school. After his education he farmed for five years before moving to Lead, South Dakota where he worked in the mines. Robert enlisted in the United States Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1958. After his discharge he worked for Hansmeier & Son for 12 years. Robert later owned and ran Loterbauer and Dewy Constructions for 35 years. |
He was united in marriage to Nadine Dirkson on September 1, 1956, in Conde, South Dakota. To this union two children were born: Gregory and Jeannine. They later divorced in 1970. He married Rita (Dolney) Garrett on November 20, 1974, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The couple made their home on a farm near Bristol. Bob loved horses, he owned a horse and buggy and took part in many parades, weddings, and special occasions over the years. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, dancing, and fixing things for people. Above all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Rita passed away in 2021 and Bob continued living at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.
Robert is survived by his son: Gregory (Kari) Loterbauer of Billings, MT; Three stepsons, Lonnie (Dixie) Garrett and Michael (Sharon) Garrett of Aberdeen, SD, and Scott (Mary) Garrett of Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jeannine Dell; siblings Donald, Rachel, Frances, James, Edward, Irene, Alice, Raymond, Lester, and Glen.
