Ruth Jorgenson, 97, of Webster, SD, and formerly of Waubay, SD, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Bethesda Home in Webster.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Waubay, South Dakota. Pastor Marion Grimes will officate. Luncheon will follow at the Waubay Senior Citizen Center. Spring Inurnment will be at a later date.

Ruth Elaine Peebles was born on March 1, 1925, to George and Nona (Huggett) Peebles in Roslyn, South Dakota. Ruth attended grade school near Roslyn for three years. The family then bought a farm in Grant County near Summit, South Dakota where she attended country school in Blooming Valley Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Lebanon Lutheran Church near the family home. She later attended and graduated from Waubay High School.

Ruth was united in marriage to Marvin Jorgenson on March 14, 1944, in Watertown, South Dakota. Together the couple built their family farm South of Waubay and raised their four children: David, Sheryl, Cindi, and Brent. After the couple retired from farming, Ruth and Marvin enjoyed traveling and gardening together. Marvin passed away in 2000. Ruth was a member of the Ladies Aide, Tuesday Club, Bible Study, and she also taught Sunday School for many years. She loved quilting, sewing, cooking, and baking but above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Ruth passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Bethesda Home in Webster, South Dakota, at the age of 97 years, 9 months, and 27 days.

She will be forever loved and missed by her children, David (Lou) Jorgenson of Waubay, SD, Sheryl Steinocker of Summit, SD, and Cindi Vincent of Andover, MN; her eight grandchildren, Brad (Karla) Jorgenson of Brandon, SD, Gregg (Monica) Jorgenson of Brookings, SD, Kristin (Christopher) Bisgard of Brookings, SD, Stacey (Corey) Amdahl of Summit, SD, Brett (Meghan) Steinocker of Brandon, SD, Aliana Jorgenson of Kalispell, MT, Avalea Jorgenson of Kalispell, MT, and Nolan Jorgenson of Kalispell, MT; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin, her son Brent Jorgenson; one brother Rodney Peebles; one sister Eva Peebles; and two sons-in-law Alan Steinocker and Kelly Vincent.
