Ryan Shepherd, 53, of Webster, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
A celebration of Ryan's life will be held 2:00pm Friday, July 18, 2025, at the funeral home, Minister Marion Grimes will officiate.
Ryan Glen Shepherd Sr. was born on Nov. 11, 1971 to Kenneth and Karen Shepherd in Webster, SD. He attended school at Webster School District and acquired his GED in 1990. He worked as a cook at Strand-Kjorsvig Living Center in his younger years. He did custom harvesting taking him down to Texas and back. Over the years he worked at a salvage yard scraping things out, a department store stocking shelves at night, and driving trucks for a delivery service. He got his pilot's license in 2001 after working for Quest Aviation. He worked for Lien Transportation for about 17 years.
During these years, he married Zina Russell in 2002 and they had three boys during their union. They made their home in Aberdeen and later moved to Mellette. They later separated in 2008. In 2009, he met Becky Bohnenkamp and in 2010 they moved to Webster, SD. He worked for Webster Scale and C&S Conversions in Watertown. After his dad's passing, Ryan started S.H.O.P.P./Huggers Hot Rods on the family farm and took care of his Mom. He married Becky in 2014 in Bradley, SD. and they started raising pigs, cows, sheep, goats, chickens, cats, dogs, and horses.
Ryan loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and animals. Every day, at the end of the day, Ryan and his wife would always take a cup of ice and go sit with their animals and enjoy their time together watching their animals. Ryan loved helping people in need and teaching them needed skills. Ryan was a kind, loving, caring and generous man. He would help any stranger with his heart of gold. Ryan was a handy man of all traits and could fix anything. He loved to cook and he was good at it. He really enjoyed helping his farmer. He would make a bet with his wife every morning as to when his farmer was going to call. Ryan had numerous enjoyments in life and that was riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, farming, and working with metal. In his younger years, he spent many days riding motorcycle with his best friend (also known as his other half) - Jerod Raml. He was a H.O.G member and competed in the law enforcement torch run in 1996 as a member of Hand Gunners Association where he took 1st place for the charity pistol match for Special Olympics.
He is survived by his loving wife Becky Shepherd, sons: Doug (Elizabeth) Bohnenkamp, Ryan Jr. (Rebecca) Shepherd, Jerod Shepherd, Sean Shepherd. Grandchildren: Kenneth, Lane, Carson, Brooklyn, Grayson, Waylon, Stella, and Tate. Mother: Karen Shepherd. Sisters: Pam Dean, and Rita Sattler. Parents in law: Jim (Barb) Bohnenkamp and Janice Kadoun. Sisters in law: Brenda (Scott) Dauner, Kristina (Sam) Brownell, Barb Schlecht, and Julie (Beau) Williams. Brother in law: Dustin Kadoun. Very special people in his life: Sandra Vehe, Jim Raml, Lori Raml, Jerod Raml, Dan (Josie) Kallemeyn and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Shepherd, uncles, aunts, and his grandparents.
