Sharon Leann Sellevold was born on October 15, 1940, to Chester “Chet” and Madelyn “Maude” Sellevold at Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Roslyn Lutheran Church and attended country school at Nutley Township #166. She graduated from Roslyn High School in 1958 and furthered her education at Northern Teachers College in Aberdeen.

On June 5, 1959, she married Gary L. Johnson at Roslyn Lutheran Church. To this union a son Lonnie L. Johnson was born. The family made their home on the Sellevold Family Homestead, near Grenville.

On September 19, 1981, she married Wesley Monshaugen at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Roslyn. Sharon worked at Darlene’s Market in Roslyn and helped Wes with their trucking company. In those years, their “vacations” were making a long haul together in the truck!  In November of 1995, the couple moved to Mexico for Wes’ job. Sharon worked as a volunteer tutor at a university teaching English. They returned to Roslyn in February of 1997. Sharon worked at Strand Kjorsvig in almost every department over the years. She was a compassionate caregiver and friend to many residents and staff members at SK. Sharon and Wes were founding members of “The Roslyn Creamery Band” hosting Saturday night jamborees for many years on main street of Roslyn.

Sharon was a lifelong member at Roslyn Lutheran Church until its closing. She was active in the Roslyn Music Mothers and taught Sunday School. She was currently a member at Fron Lutheran Church. She had a deep faith in her Lord Jesus and was musically gifted to share that faith through song.

Sharon loved all animals but had an exceptional love for her kitty cats. She enjoyed music and visiting over a cup of coffee. She was her grandsons biggest fan and cheerleader at all sporting events and any activities they were involved in.

Sharon passed away, Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 18 days.
