Sheryl L. Gullickson

ROSLYN – Sheryl L. Gullickson 71, of Roslyn passed away Saturday August 20, 2016 at Strand Kjorsvig Living Center in Roslyn. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday August 26, 2016 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster, Pastor Janet Johnson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Roslyn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service. Sheryl Lee Gullickson was born on Tuesday May 22, 1945 to Sidney and Lovella (Grinager) Gullickson at Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Roslyn Lutheran Church in Roslyn, South Dakota. She attended school in Roslyn and was crowned Miss Roslyn in 1962. In 1963, she graduated as valedictorian at RHS. After high school she furthered her education at Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, South Dakota and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1966. Her nursing career took her to numerous states across the United States including, Nebraska, Colorado, Massachusetts, Montana, South Dakota, and Alaska. Sheryl spent the majority of her career as a transplant surgical nurse. She retired from nursing after 18 dedicated years in various medical centers across Alaska, the last four being at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. After retirement, she returned to Roslyn to be with her mother, Lovella. Sheryl had a special bond with her mother. One was always with the other! The two enjoyed attending various events in the area, but especially Roslyn Viking sporting events! Lovella passed away in October 2015. Sheryl remained living at their home in Roslyn until June of 2016, when she moved to Strand Kjorsvig Living Center in Roslyn. Sheryl will be greatly missed by her brothers, Orrin (Carol) Gullickson of Centennial, CO and Dr. Dale (Donna) Gullickson of Centerville, OH. She is also survived by four nephews, Jon, Lee T., Adam, and Kevin Gullickson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law Donna Gullickson.
