HOLMQUIST- Virginia Anderson 86, of Holmquist died on Tuesday, June 06, 2006 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen. Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 9, 2006 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Dan Overbo officiating. Burial will be in the New Sweden Cemetery near Holmquist. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Thursday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Friday. Virginia Astrid Lindholm was born on Wednesday, March 17, 1920 to Peter and Elizabeth (Anderson) Lindholm on a farm near Holmquist, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, attended Sunday School and participated in church activities. She attended country school District 113 in Kidder Township where she graduated from eighth grade, after which, she attended Webster High School and then business college in Watertown. She was employed by Shaw-Messer Funeral Chapel in Watertown for a year, working as a secretary. She then attended Northern State Teachers college in Aberdeen and received her teaching certificate and taught country school in the area for a few years. On September 7, 1947 she married Gideon Anderson in the Holmquist Emanuel Church. After their marriage they spent their lives together working on their farm near Holmquist and raising their children. Gideon passed away in 1983. After his death she continued to live on the farm until 1999 when she moved to Webster. She entered Bethesda Home in Webster in November 2005. She was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol where she was a very active Circle member as well as Ladies Aid and enjoyed it all. She also served in the Helping Hand Club of Holmquist. Virginia’s Christian faith grew stronger as she journeyed through life. She loved to read her Bible and continued to do so as long as she was able. She’ll always be remembered as a very kind, loving, and hard working lady who never let others down. Virginia was an avid gardener and a hard worker always ready to help anyone in need. Virginia passed away on Tuesday June 6, 2006 at Aberdeen, South Daktoa the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 20 days. Survivors include: one son; Wenzel Anderson (Sherry Markel) of Webster, SD, two daughters; Louise (Stanley) Erickson of Scandia, MN and Doreen Anderson of Eau Claire, WI, two brothers; Oscar Lindholm of Green Mountain Falls, CO and Arthur (Sarah) Lindholm of Newark, DE, one sister; Vendella (LeRoy) Ceroll of Webster, SD, three grandchildren; Aaron (Angie) Erickson of St. Paul MN, Mark (Erin) Erickson of Fargo, ND, and Suzanne Erickson of Scandia, MN, one great-grandchild; Ashley Erickson. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Calvin, infant son Jerome, five brothers, Theadore, Herman, Harry, Gustave, and Alvin Lindholm, and three sisters, Hilda Holliday, Agnes Rogers, and Esther Olson.
