It was a beautiful July night with a gorgeous full moon. The house was silent, when suddenly Connie went into labor. She woke Robert. He requested Connie to cross her legs and just wait two days until his birthday and go back to sleep. Request denied! Wendy Kae Anderson was born July 10, 1960, to Robert and Connie (Coster) Anderson in De Smet, South Dakota.
Even as a child, Wendy was a fun loving, free spirit that enjoyed helping others. She was known for her way of making people laugh or at the very least, smile.
Wendy graduated from Webster High School in 1978. During her time in high school, she leaned towards the nursing profession by joining the candy striping program.
After graduation, she took a couple of years and traveled the United States. On her adventures, she held various jobs to pay for her travels. Along the way, she worked at Lieberman Enterprises Music Company in Minneapolis. From there, she headed east to Washington DC to be a Foreign Visa Application Investigator. During her employment, she received an award for catching two spies trying to enter the US.
Her next endeavor included moving to White Plains, New York, where she was a nanny for the Berger family of five children. She lived with them for three years before deciding to step into the nursing field. Wendy then moved back to South Dakota and attended Presentation College in Aberdeen and completed her registered nursing degree at USD in Vermillion with the class of 1984.
After college, she became a traveling nurse with Health Examinatics. Wendy managed the employee physical division of major companies. The journey continued and led her to Bosley Medical Group. Her role included setting up the new clinics in Seattle, San Francisco, and Dallas. She then went on to home health nursing specializing in care for cancer and AIDS patients in Los Angeles.
Due to health issues, Wendy moved back to South Dakota and worked in various nursing home facilities in Bristol, Webster, Sisseton, and Sioux Falls before retiring.
It was a beautiful evening in July with a “Super Full Moon”. On July 14, 2022, Wendy passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Webster.
Wendy is survived by her mother Connie of Webster, SD, two sisters: Rhonda (Mike) Smeins of Milbank, SD, Suzie ( Dana) Miller of Webster, SD, many dearly loved nieces and nephews, friends, and a very special friend Anthony Paige. She was preceded in death by her father Robert.
Rest in peace Wendy. You are dearly loved and will be greatly missed!
