Obituary for Carlyle "Crock" Eman

WEBSTER- Carlyle “Crock” Eman, 78 of Webster died on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Webster.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at American Lutheran Church in Webster, Barbara Bunk will officiate. Inurnment will be at Webster Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial visitation will be on hour prior to services at the church.

Carlyle “Crock” Raymond Eman was born on August 1, 1938 to Fred and Lydia (Bender) Eman at Coleharbor, North Dakota. When he was six years old the family moved to Underwood where he attended school and graduated high school. After high school he worked construction in the area. In October 1961 he entered the U.S. Army and served stateside. After he was honorably discharged he returned home.

On October 12, 1963 he was united in marriage to Iris Fevold at New Town, North Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Parshall, North Dakota where Crock worked in the Gamble’s Store. In January 1968 the couple moved to Webster where he was store manager for the Gamble’s Store. In 1972 he began working as purchasing agent for the Day County Hospital and worked there until 1975 when he went to work for Mereen- Johnson Foundry. He was instrumental in training all the new hires at the foundry. He retired in 2000 but continued to work there part-time until the present time.

He was a member of American Lutheran Church in Webster. He was very active in the Webster Jaycees, Lions and United Way. His hobbies included golf, reading western books, watching sports, attending stock car races and threshing bees.

Crock passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 5 days.

Survivors include his wife, Iris of Webster; two daughters, Sue (Brian) Schoon of Elk Run Heights, IA and Heather (David) Chilson of Fayetteville, AR; two sisters, Ruby Lounder of Wooodstock, IL and Sharon Lewis of Hurst, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Melvin, James, Donald and Larry, and two sisters, Marjorie and Irene.
