Obituary for James "Jim" Haslam

Enemy Swim– James “Jim” Haslam of Enemy Swim passed away Monday July 3, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Webster.

His funeral will be 10:00 A.M. Friday July 7, 2017 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. Burial will be in the Lakewood Cemetery near Waubay.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

James E. Haslam Jr. was born on December, 1930 to James “Bud” and Gladys (Mulroy) Haslam at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He attended school at Washington High School in Sioux Falls. After his education, Jim worked several jobs in Sioux Falls until he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and was stationed in Germany. After nearly 20 years of faithful service to his country, Jim retired and moved to Enemy Swim Lake to help his parents and aunt run the family business known as the Hey-Good Resort.

Jim was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed wood carving, gardening, watching the New York Yankees, and above all else he cherished time spent with his family and friends at the lake.

Jim passed away peacefully Monday July 3, 2017 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 23 days.

He will be forever missed by his one niece Julie M. Huso (Daniel M. King) of Enemy Swim, SD, and two nephews, Edward Wayne (Conchita) Starz of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA and Terry Todd (Ruth) Starz of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth L. Huso, Bryant (Jennifer) Huso, Brent (Anna) Huso, Tracy Hanson , Shawna Baumann , great-great nephews and nieces, Sawyer Huso, Lydia Huso, Josie Huso, Cole (Mary) Steen, and Braelinn Steen.
