Obituary for Bonnie K. Hopkins

WAUBAY – Bonnie K. Hopkins 54 of Waubay passed away Friday December 14, 2018 at Milbank Care and Rehab.

Her funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday December 20, 2018 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bonnie Kay Kriech was born on December 10, 1964 to Vernon and Nelda (Phillips) Kriech at Webster, South Dakota. The family made their home on a farm near Waubay, South Dakota. She attended school in Waubay and graduated in 1983. In 1984, she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota for short time until returning to Waubay. She worked various jobs in the area.

On May 11, 1996 she was united in marriage to Jeff Hopkins at Waubay. The couple had two children, Randy and Carrie. The family made their home in Waubay. Bonnie took employment with the Dakota Sioux Casino where she continued to work until her health forced her into an early retirement in 2004.

Bonnie enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, puzzles, Facebooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her husband Jeff Hopkins, son Randy (April) Hopkins, and daughter Carrie (Thomas) Iyarpeya, four special grandchildren; Damien, Logan, Revina, and Xavia. All of Waubay, SD. She is also survived by her siblings; Robert (Jane) Kriech, Don (Kasha) Kriech both of Waubay, SD, and Judy (Will Rishling of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Virgil Kriech and one sister Grace Fuchs.
