Nadine SauerNadine Sauer, 87, of Webster, SD passed away on Friday December 11, 2020 at Sanford Hospital in Webster. Private funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Monday December 14, 2020 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol and will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page. Public walk-through visitation will be 12-1 P.M. at the church on Monday. Nadine Sauer was born October 1, 1933 on a farm north of Holmquist, SD to Albert and Emma Huwe. She moved with her parents to Bristol before the age of one. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church. After graduating from Bristol High School, she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked at Northland Greyhound Co. in the general office until 1955. She married Luverne Sauer at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis in January of 1954. A son, Randal was born to them in June of 1955. A daughter, Robin was born to them in January of 1957. Robin passed away in July of 1966. Nadine worked for Control Data in 1963 as an electronic assembler. From 1966 to 1970 she worked for North Central Airlines as an auditor. She sold real estate for the Spring Co. for a time. She worked as a station clerk at Southdale Fairview Hospital for a couple years. Nadine worked from 1976 to 1980 at B Dalton Booksellers in the general office as a secretary. Nadine lived in Bloomington, MN and was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church for 35 years. There she taught Sunday School and Bible School. In 1989 Nadine moved with her husband back to Day County, SD, where they built their home on the shores of Enemy Swim Lake. She rejoined Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, where she was in the Ruth Circle and active in WELCA. In 2012 they moved into Webster. Nadine was a member of American Legion Aux and VFW Aux and the Red Hat Revelers all in Webster. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, oil painting, knitting, crossword puzzles, and reading. She had many friends at South Padre, TX where they wintered for many years. She is survived by her son, Randal (Beverly) Sauer of New Prague, MN; two grandchildren, Wayne (Mandi) Sauer of Minneapolis, MN and Karen (Phil) Smisek of Burnsville, MN. four great-grandsons Jace and Kobi Vardaman of Burnsville, MN and Jonah and Judah Smisek of Burnsville, MN; her sister, Arletta Peterson of Webster, SD; two brothers-in-law, Leroy (Carol) Sauer of Santa Maria, CA and Kenneth Sauer of Watertown, SD; one sister-in-law Gladys (Frank) Noble of Baldwin, MO; and her nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband Luverne, her daughter Robin, two brothers Burton and Dale Huwe, and four sisters Lucille Sheldon, Irene Long, Lois Bradstreet, and Erma Knutson.
